Accessibility Statement

VelocityScale is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse.

We believe good design and accessible design are the same thing. A site that is easier for a screen reader to interpret is usually clearer for everyone.

Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the international standard referenced by the Australian Government and by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with visual, hearing, cognitive, physical and neurological disabilities.

What we have done

Accessibility was considered while this site was built, not added afterwards. Specifically:

• Semantic structure — the site uses proper HTML landmarks and a logical heading order, so screen readers can navigate and announce content correctly
• Keyboard navigation — every interactive element can be reached and activated using a keyboard alone, without a mouse
• Visible focus indicators — a clear, high-contrast outline shows which element is currently focused as you tab through the page
• Colour contrast — text and background colours were chosen to remain readable, and we do not rely on colour alone to convey meaning
• Reduced motion support — if your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations and background effects are disabled automatically
• Descriptive labels — images, icons and navigation regions carry text alternatives and ARIA labels where needed
• Responsive and zoomable — the layout reflows cleanly on phones, tablets and desktops, and text remains readable when zoomed
• Readable typography — generous type sizes, line spacing and line lengths to reduce reading strain

Known limitations

We are honest about where we fall short. We are currently aware of the following:

• Some decorative background animations are visual only and carry no information, but may still be distracting for some users. These can be disabled by turning on "reduce motion" in your device's accessibility settings.
• Video and social content embedded from third-party platforms such as Instagram and TikTok is controlled by those platforms, and its accessibility is outside our control.
• Documents and files we share, such as PDFs, may not yet be fully accessible. If you need one in an alternative format, contact us and we will provide it.

Assistive technology

This website is designed to work with common assistive technologies, including screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS, screen magnification, speech recognition software and keyboard-only navigation. If you encounter a barrier using any of these, we want to hear about it.

If you have difficulty accessing any part of this website, or you need information from it provided in a different format, please contact us. It helps us if you can include:

• The page address where you ran into the problem
• What you were trying to do
• The browser, device and any assistive technology you were using

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within two business days, and we will work with you to provide the information or service you need in a way that works for you.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not a one-off task. We review this site as we update it, and we will keep improving it as standards, technology and our own understanding develop. This statement will be updated when meaningful changes are made.
